System Council No.7 is advising the members that they represent that effective February 1, 2011, the System Council per capita tax for those electricians employed by Amtrak will be increased in the amount of eighty cents ($.80). This increase reflects the 1.5% on 7/111 0 and 1.5% on 1/1/11. The new per capita tax for Amtrak is $26.35, plus one-dollar ($1.00) for the Railroad Coordinating Council per capita tax. The total per capita tax per member effective February 1, 2011 will be $27.35.

Beginning January 1, 2011 an increase in dues will be implemented. There will be an increase of $1.00 for the International Per Capita. The local's portion will also be increased $3.10. 

At the local level we have not increased our dues since April of 2004. We have to increase our portion to be in good standing with our Bylaws. Since April of 2004 our members have had wage increases beginning July 1, 2004 through January 1,2011 as follows: 7-1-2004 - 3.25%, 7-1-2005 -2.5%, 7-1-2006 -3%, 7-1-2007 -3%, 7-1-2008 - 4%, 7-1-2009 - 4.5%, 7-1-2010 -1.5%, and 1-1-2011 - 1.5% for a total of 23.25% (the wage increases from July 2004 through July 2009 were provided for in an Amtrak agreement ratified February 2008). As such, the computation provides for a monthly increase, rounded up to the next highest $.05, of $3.10.

Dues will increase as follows, a "BA" member currently paying $52.95 per month will increase to $57.05. An "A" card member currently paying $66.95 will increase to $71.05.

Local 794 now represents the Amtrak electricians in St. Louis Mo.  President Edward Dec along with the rest of the Locals Officers and Executive Board would like to welcome these guys.  

In January, President Dec plans to hold a meeting down in St. Louis to meet the Amtrak electricians.  As soon as all the plans are finalize we will post here on our website.

On June 29, 2010, we met with the Amtrak negotiating team and reopened negotiations on the collective bargaining agreement. There was very little progress accomplished at this session.  It was agreed that we would meet again on July 21, 2010.
